| Just wanted to add a huge thank you to all the team at the Neurosurgical Unit. My son had surgery in January 2009 to correct saggital synososis. He was only 7 months old at the time and you made it so much easier to deal with such a big operation. My husband and I were both very impressed with your professionalism and caring attitude. James now has a new head - and looks fantastic. Thank you for changing his life for the better. |

| We don't have a dramatic experience to share unlike many of the tragic and heartwarming tales we read on the message board. Nonetheless our appreciation for a marvellous experience at A&E should not go unnoted. We want thank all the staff for tending to our fractured wrist in the most friendly, efficient and speedy manner. Within one hour of arriving at the hospital we had been diagnosed, treated and ready to leave for the comfort of home. An amazing service. THANK YOU. |

| We would just like to say a big thank you again to Dr Barry Pizer and all of our daughter's team at Oncology. Eleanor was diagnosed 7 years ago with a brain tumour and has been off treatment now for the last 4 years. She wouldn't be here with us now if it wasn't for Barry, he is a truly amazing man who we couldn't praise and thank enough for all he has done over the years. xxx |

| Many heartfelt thanks to the fantastic team at the Dewi Jones Unit who helped our son Sam when he was finding life such a struggle. He is now back to his confident and active self due to the caring and support he received during his 8 months as a patient in the unit. Now that he has been discharged we feel that we have left a second family behind - thank you so much again, you do a wonderful job and deserve much more recognition for it . |

| Finley, our grandson, aged 6 mths, was transferred to ICU on Sat 2nd May 2009. We all are of the opinion that the ICU team at Alder Hey and the prompt and quick actions of E1 staff at Whiston Hosp saved his life. We will be forever in your debt, yet you all reply "we are just doing our job"...I can assure you,it is far more than a "job"....we are so lucky to have you so near... you are not just doing your job, you are saving the lives of not only your patients but also the lives of the family too...words could not describe the depth of gratitude that we owe you...you all feel like you are now part of our "extended family"...god bless you all |

| My little boy Jaden came into hospital in October to have a relocation of his thumb which involved making him a thumb out of his finger. I dont know where to start to say thank you for such a wonderful job. Lets start with the man himself Mr McArthur, who is a wonderful surgeon and has helped Jaden do things I would never of thought possible. Thank you to Maria who's constant reassurance and kindness got me through the most upsetting of times. Thank you to Jo the physio for teaching Jaden how to use his thumb quickly and correctly as we all know what a terror he is! And a final thank you to all the nurses and staff in both L1 ward and clinic for both your hospitality and your kindness. See you next year ! |

I am sending a very belated and the biggest thank you possible to virtually every ward and its staff in Alder Hey. My son Stephen has had many operations including life saving at Alder Hey and also at Great Ormond St Hospital. My biggest thank you is to Professor David Lloyd, he has undertaken the majority of the surgery, even travelling to Great Ormond St to double up doing surgery with Professor Spitz for my son. Prof Lloyd always had time to discuss and support my family including lots of phone calls to my home. He is the sort of man who makes Alder Hey the brilliant hospital for sick children that it is. Stephen is now 25years old and was a patient at Alder Hey from birth until he was 20yrs old when he transferred to adult services. I could go on, but all at Alder Hey take a minute to think what wonderful people you are. I think Prof Lloyd will be retired now but I hope that this message gets passed on to him, he is a star and will always have a special place in my memories. Gill Gouldbourne |

We spent 4 weeks on K2 and 5 weeks on ICU and we would like to thank all the staff that took good care of Aimee, and us, during our stay. Di (K2) you started out as Aimee's nurse but soon became a good friend, your support has got us through our tough times. Also Claire, you too became a good friend, thanks for everything. Special thanks to Denise on ICU who organised our cuddles with Aimee, it's the simple things in life that mean the most and it meant so much to us to just be able to hold her for a short while. Theresa (ICU), your strength and support when Aimee passed away on 20th March helped us through the night. Maybe Aimee just wasn’t a fan of the classics!! Extra special thanks to Mr Corno who kept our hope alive and helped us believe we were doing the right thing by Aimee. Your optimism got us through those last few weeks of despair. Dr Gladman, thank you for trying to answer our "what if" questions even though there are no real answers. It is so hard to accept our beautiful baby was only ever meant to be with us for such a short time. She is loved and missed every day. Thank you to everyone who we met, we will never forget you all. | On Sunday 22nd March 2009 I went into Alder Hey Children's Hospital for some scheduled Intra Cranial pressure monitoring. This minor operation was carried out on 23rd March and after 48 hours of monitoring it was decided by the health care professionals in the NEUROSURGICAL ward that I needed one of my shunts tieing off because it wasn't working any longer and the other shunts valve needed changing as I had been experiencing low pressures that made me have headaches, feel really sick, have blurred vision and I couldn't really concentrate very well either. The shunt was changed to a programmable shunt on 25th March and I came out of theatre at 18:10 that evening. The reason for this message is to say a big thank you to all of the team in the NSW but most of all to say thank you for my huge 13th birhday party and a birthday cake that was set up for me without my knowledge the day after my operation. A very nice thing to do for me that went above and beyond the call of duty...thanks guys and I cant wait to come and see you all in a few weeks when I come in to get my shunt reprogrammed. See you all soon Kimberleigh Prescott xx |

| Hi, I would just like to thank all the staff at Alder Hey for being there for me and my daughter. She was constantly admitted to Alder Hey from 4 weeks old with apniea and bronculitis now at 10 months old and having not been admitted for 4 weeks she's doing great. Hopefully I'll only be returning for outpatient appointments without the doctors advice or the nurses being there for her of a night while I was at home with my other two children. I don't know where I'd be now. Thank you xxx |

| We would like to thank all the staff on neurosurgery for the care shown to our daughter Billie-Jo and ourselves during her recent admission. At such a hard worrying time your care, understanding and patience is second to none. We would like to say a special thankyou to Kelly, Billie-jo's nurse for most of her stay nothing was too much or a problem. But really the whole team from Mr Mallucci right the way down to the cleaners was absolutley fantastic, the ward was spotlessly clean at all times, we were never afraid to approach the consultants or the nurses with any queries we had. Although our stay at Alder Hey was sad and distressing we wouldn't want our beautiful daughter's hospital stay to be any where else. A* for neurosurgery ward Alder Hey. Thankyou Joanne and John |

As we write this, we hope and pray that our Grandson, Hagan, will soon be dis-charged from the Neuro Surgical Unit, where he (and his parents, brothers and wider family) have felt the support of kind, caring and very professional staff, at EVERY level, for almost 3 worrying weeks. Clearly, the skills of his Doctors; Neuro-surgeons; the Plastic surgeon; the Anaethetists and all the other unseen staff did a wonderful job in theatre for him! But also in the HDU and on the ward, all Staff, whether nurses; domestic; admin or catering; ALL contributed in their own way to his remarkable recovery.
Even when carrying out difficult or unpleasant tasks, they were always child-friendly and willing to explain everything, with a smile and a quip!
I would also like to thank the Chef and all staff in the Cafe, where for some 3 weeks or so, we have been able to eat good wholesome food, in clean surroundings - served (very generously!)by staff who were also helpful, kind and caring. We are VERY lucky to have this wonderful resource here in the North West!
Another resource that has been much appreciated is the use of a room at the Ronald Macdonald House -'Home From Home'. (We will be fund-raising again in the summer!) The Chapel too, gave us a quiet space when we needed it- I would like to thank all our family, friends, work colleagues and the strangers, who have also, so kindly prayed for Hagan's recovery-it was MUCH appreciated.)
Well Done Alder Hey - May God continue to bless your work. Carolynne and Dave Riley (Grandparents) |
